ALGAE CONTROL

Algae can cause many problems in the aquatic environment, from simple ‘pea soups’ to infestations of blanket weed. The root cause of algal problems tend to be an imbalance in the amounts of nutrients in the water, and also the amounts of ‘higher’ plants such as pond weeds lilies etc counteracting/ utilising these nutrients.

A consultancy visit will identify this nutrient source and develop a strategy to prevent the long term necessity of algae treatment.

In the past it was easy to use chemicals such as clarosan to effectively treat blanket weed, nowadays since its removal, along with many other aquatic chemicals, from the approved list, other methods have to be employed.

We have a wealth of experience controlling blanket weed and other forms of algae. We continue to run trials on the latest control techniques, at the present we can offer the following solutions:

  • Aquatic Dyes
  • Ultrasonics
  • Organic Barley Straw
  • Water Clarity alteration via fish stocking
  • Proper planting.

As each pond, lake or river is individual; please get in touch to discuss your needs.
